The option to set up year/course groups and student focus groups is available within Sisra Observe. Once these are set up, they can then be added to a record and this will then enable you to filter your records and reports by a certain group of students.
This article explains how to set up Year Groups / Course Levels, for information on setting up Focus Groups, please see the following article: Student Groups - Focus Groups.
Please Note: The examples shown within this article are based on School accounts in Observe. For Commercial accounts, instead of ‘Year Groups’, you will have ‘Course Levels’. The functionality, however, remains the same. |
You can set up groups for the different year groups (school accounts) or course levels (commercial accounts) and assign these relevant group to each record. For example, as a secondary school you could create records based on Year 7, Year 8, etc. For commercial accounts, you may create records based on Level 1, Level 2 etc.
To set up year groups, go to Admin > Settings > Student Groups > Year Group List (or Course Level List) tab.
By default, all years/levels in your subscription should be available. For example, if you are a KS4 only secondary school, you may have access to Year 7 through to Year 11. Any groups not within your subscription will be displayed in the ‘Unavailable’ section at the bottom of the page.
If you are expecting different year groups to be available in your account, we would recommend popping onto Live Chat. |
If you wish to remove any groups so that these are not available when creating future records, you can deactivate these by clicking the red pause icon. This icon will then become a green play icon allowing you to reactivate this at any time.
You can rename a group to reflect different terminology used at your organisation by clicking the blue pencil icon.
You can change the order in which groups appear in this list which will then apply when filtering by these in the records and reports. For example, you can arrange these to be in descending rather than ascending order. To do this, click ‘Reorder Group’ and then use the arrows to move each relevant year up or down the list by one, or to the top or bottom of the list. Once you are happy, click ‘Save’ at the bottom and the changes will then be applied.
The Year Groups or Course Levels that are active will then be available as a filter in the Records and Reports areas, allowing you to narrow the results down to a specific year group/course level. For further information, please see the following article: Filtering by Student Groups.
