A template contains a combination of fields and focus areas to build the structure for any records that will be created. These are the forms that your staff will fill in when completing their Appraisals, Book Looks etc. If you have copies of the forms your staff used to fill in, you can use this as a guide and recreate each of the elements from your own forms in Sisra Observe.
You can create as many templates as you need, however you would need to create separate templates for each of the template types you have activated. Once a template has been created and activated, staff will be able to use this to create records and you will no longer be able to edit the template.
Template Library
For inspiration on the different types of templates you could create in Observe, please feel free to take a look at our Template Library. Here, you can see numerous examples of templates you could create (e.g. Appraisals, Book Looks etc.) as well as examples provided by other Sisra schools:

Below you can find an explanation of an example template.
Example of a Learning Walk
Here is an example of a template created for Learning Walks to help illustrate how this comes together. This includes a ‘Useful Information’ section at the top of the record, including text fields such as Observation Start, Observation End, numerical fields such as Pupils present and dropdown fields for the observer to select which period the learning walk was conducted during and whether they have seen the lesson plan or not.
As this information has been created as fields, this means this will not pull through to the reports, however this will be displayed on the record itself and can be seen by users with permission to access the record.
Next, we have created a Teachers’ Standards section, including separate focus areas for each of the 8 teacher standards. Each of these have been linked to the Teachers’ Standards Rating outcome set, containing the outcomes L, D, S and E, and a comment box has been provided for appropriate standards.
As a separate outcome set has been created, this will ensure the Teacher Standards focus areas are displayed in a separate section. An example of how this would appear in the reports is shown below:
At the bottom of the record, we have provided an ‘Additional Comments’ section, including a Comments text field. This has been created as a large paragraph, however as this has been created as a field, this means this would be displayed on the record, but not pull through to the reports.

If you would like some training on how to build your templates, our Sisra Consultants run a Sisra Observe Template Building Webinar that is designed for Sisra administrators with responsibility for building the templates for their records in Sisra Observe.
