Template types act as umbrella headings which can then be associated with multiple categories. Categories are selected when creating new templates, and you can assign multiple categories to one template. These will also be selected when setting up new users or user groups, and therefore play a role in defining who is able to access specific records and reports. They will also help your users search for records and can be used as a filter in the reports.
For example, the template type ‘Observation’ could contain multiple categories such as book look, learning walk, drop-in, etc.
By default, Observe provide a number of default templates types, which can be renamed to reflect your chosen types.
In total, you can have up to four template types if needed. For example, you may want a ‘CPD’ template type, which can be used to record CPD activities under their own heading. This would then allow you to analyse CPD records and reports separate from other records.
Example
In the example below, you can see Quality Assurance, Appraisal, Professional Growth and Self-Evaluation have been created as template types, and this presents four separate sections in the reports for analysis:
