Creating Departments
To begin setting up your Structure, click Admin > Data > Structure.
Click ‘Create Department’. In the 'Group By' section, you can view departments and teams in different ways, depending on personal preference!
Then, enter a clear name in the pop out, which will be displayed in the record and reports areas. Then, click ‘Create’. You can then repeat this process until you have created all of the departments you need. |
Once all your departments have been created, you can create teams within them.
Creating Teams
To create a team, click ‘Create Team’.
In the pop out, ensure the correct department is selected in the dropdown, and enter a clear Team Name, which does not have to match the labels used in your Management Information System (MIS), if used. The name you enter, will pull through to the records and reports areas. Then, click ‘Create’. |
You can then repeat this process until you have created each of the teams you need, and you can have multiple teams in each department (however, a specific team can only appear in ONE department).
Note: It is not required to split departments and teams by key stage, year or course level, as these can be grouped and split into the relevant year when creating a record. If you intend to give different permissions to staff based on these options however, this is when you may wish to split these out here. |
You should then be able to see an overview of your departments and teams, which can be managed further on the page.
You can edit, deactivate or delete a department, as well as move, edit, deactivate or delete a team.
Once you have created all departments and teams, you can then import classes for each team and as an option, you can also add additional class contexts to each of your classes. This can be done within the Classes section. For further information on Class Contexts, see the following article - What is Class Context Data?
After creating your departments and teams the Staff section will also become available. See the following article for more information on setting this up - What is Staff data?.
